how can i make my wedding hat smaller to fit better?

ive bought my mum her hat for my wedding and its diet to big dont want to send it back as it the nicest iv seen,is there a way of makin it fit that short bit tighter???

Maybe you could track the inside of the hat with a couple of layers of cloth or fabric, so that the fit would more sheltered.
