tips on color for western show hat?

i as per usual wear a black hat the performance classes. however, this year i got talked into showing a yearling at halter (which normally i dont like to do). Is there a customary color for your western hat in halter? Can it be straw?

I'd say scarcely stick with the black hat you already use, besides the judge won't be looking at you, they will be looking at your horse's conformation.
